Places to see

After my hungry mind earlier this week, I find myself a bit more positive this morning. A good night's sleep is always good! I have not had a new ultra-positive about our administrative procedures, but I try to remind myself that everything ended up walking. So I will focus on the end result and not the process! Hold the French bureaucracy,

When we are finally in Paris, it will be possible to discover an incredibly rich history, culture and attractions. This morning during my commute to work, I tried to make a top 5 things I want to see in France. This list is very preliminary and not based on any exhaustive search. And for those who know me, I always plan everything, so this list will be complete in a few weeks! It has nothing to Paris because I'll discover on a daily basis.

A) Visit the home village of my ancestor Charles Pouliot

The full Pouliot descendants in America can trace their roots to this individual. He left the parish of Saint-Cosme-de-Vair (now Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais) in 1653 and settled on the Island of Orleans. This village is about 200km south-east of Paris. Interesting fact which proves that rock Pouliots Madonna share the same ancestor.

B) Visit to Juno Beach in Normandy (landing place of the Canadian Forces during D-Day of the Second World War)

I am extremely interested in this period of history. It fascinates and horrifies me that almost all the world was organized for one purpose: To war. I think this period of history should be a source of pride and appresentissage for us all. After listening to "Saving Private Ryan" approximately 24,378 times, I can not make a turn that corner.

C) The Cathedral of Reims

Gothic cathedral dating from the 13th century it was the place of consecration of the French kings. It is part of UNESCO World Heritage since 1991. I find it simply impressive. We will say what they like the Catholic area, but crime they knew how to build kick-ass buildings that remain as impressive today!

D) Strasbourg

Several people have mentioned how pretty this city is. I know almost nothing about the city except that it is the seat of the European Parliament. And as she found on the German border, I tell myself it's a great opportunity to enjoy a beer while eating a typical Alsatian dish on a beautiful sunny terrace.
